Yankees come away with a 3-2 victory in the Bronx thanks to a walk off HR by Brett Gardner in the 9th. Tanaka went 7 strong innings allowing two runs and Betances and Miller followed with back-to-back scoreless innings with Miller picking up the win.
Tampa Bay's left hander Blake Snell made his first major league start today going 5 innings allowing just one run two hits one walk and striking out 6. A strong outing from the rookie left hander, and manager Kevin Cash thought five innings was enough and did not want to push him.
Concerns still remain for the Yankees with both A-rod and Chase Headley hitting under .200 and are slowly crippling the Yankees. Although Headley has looked pretty good at third base and is definitely not hindering them there he needs to produce at the plate. Rodriguez being the DH needs to produce like one, although he has shown some power with a pair of Home Runs he needs to raise that batting average. Yankees pitching has shown up, maybe this game can spark their bats to come alive!
