Yanks Look For Severino to Deliver, Sweep BoSox

After two much needed wins, the Yankees find themselves finally on some sort of win streak. Friday night, they won a 3-2 nail-biter which involved a questionable call on David Ortiz. Ortiz and manager John Farrell were ejected from the game after arguing a low strike three call. Nevertheless, the Yankees caught a break, something that has been seldom thus far in 2016.

Yesterday, the Yankee lineup took it right to Cy Young runner-up David Price, tagging him for 6 earned on 7 hits. Didi Gregorious delivered in the 4th inning with 2-outs and the bases loaded, clearing the bases with a drive down the right field line. In the 5th, veteran Carlos Beltran also came through with 2-outs, doubling in 2 to make it 6-2. Hitting with runners in scoring position has been a crucial problem for the Yankees thus far, as they are still second to last in hits with RISP (.208). If they want to continue to win games, they need to get better with guys on base.

Both Michael Pineda and Nathan Eovaldi both logged quality starts after showing inconsistency. Eovaldi got the win yesterday after going 8IP with 6 hits, 2 earned, and 6Ks.

As for tonight's matchup, it is right-hander Steven Wright (2-3, 1.67) vs. Luis Severino (0-4, 6.31). Not only is this a golden opportunity to sweep the Sox after they swept us last weekend, Severino has a chance to prove his worth. Tonight's game is on ESPN, and all eyes will be on the struggling young right-hander. This season, Severino has been inefficient, throwing too many pitches and missing his spots. Personally, I think he just flat out hasn't had the great stuff he flaunted at times last season. By no means do I think that this start is make or break for him, but if Severino came out and delivered tonight it would be encouraging. I know Sev has it in him, and with a home crowd behind him tonight and a great lineup opposing him, he could be poised for a great outing.

Bring the brooms because god knows we need to sweep.

LET'S GO YANKS!
