A-Rod Placed on 15-Day DL as Yanks Struggles Continue

Just when you thought things could not get any worse, it seems as if they have.

This afternoon, sources confirmed that Alex Rodriguez strained his right hamstring and will be placed on DL. Thus far, A-Rod has hit at an underwhelming .194 clip with 5HRs and 12RBIs. Nevertheless, the loss of A-Rod for the next two weeks is something the Yankees could not afford.

This team has not won a series since the opening week and have looked incredibly inconsistent in all aspects of their game. When the lineup hits the pitching is awful, and when the pitching is good the lineup doesn't produce. Lack of production has been the moral of the story for the now 8-16 Yankees, who take on the Orioles tonight in the second game of their series. After getting swept in Boston last weekend, the Yankees showed no signs of getting on the right track.

Luis Severino gave up 3 earned over 6.0 IP, giving up two home runs to the red hot Mark Trumbo. Trumbo is hitting .337 with 8HRs after the first month, proving to be a great acquisition for Baltimore. Tonight, the veteran left-hander CC Sabathia will face-off against Tyler Wilson as the Yankees look to end their 6-game skid.

While the season is by no means over for the Yankees, but being 8 games under .500 the first couple days of May is not where you need to be. This team needs to focus on taking it day by day, and winning every inning. If things do not turnaround quickly, I expect changes will be made before the deadline.

As a Yankees fan, you have to maintain a positive outlook and see how things play out. I for one have confidence in Girardi to get this team back on the winning track as he has in years past with sub-par teams. He's 743-577 in his 9 years thus far with the Yankees, and has always delivered when the odds were stacked against the expectations of the team. I don't foresee this year being any different and we will get back on the right track because I know this team has the talent to.
