(3) UVA vs. (12) Miami preview

The #3 seeded Virginia Cavaliers take on the #12 seeded Hurricanes in Miami tonight at 7. Coming off of their worst loss of the season to UNC, Miami looks to bounce back in a tough matchup with UVA. In their loss to UNC on Saturday, they trailed by as many as 38 points.

Coach Jim Larranaga spoke of the loss, "They dominated us, that hasn;t happened all year long. What are we, 21-5 now? That was our 26th game and that hadn't happened to us in our 25 other games." Both teams tonight face-off sharing a 21-5 record.

For Virginia, this is a decisive week as they have Miami tonight, the #7 seeded UNC on their schedule Saturday, and the #11 seeded Louisville to finish the season on 3/5.

I think Miami has been a little off recently, and playing 6 unranked teams prior to UNC really showed in their 96-71 loss to them. Miami needs to step it up, and that starts with their leading scorer Sheldon McClellan. The senior was shut down against UNC and has to be productive for Miami to win tonight. For UVA, look for the trio of Malcolm Brogdon, Anthony Gill, and London Perrantes to pace the offense. This year, Virginia has a 4-0 record against Top 25 teams, an NCAA best. That speaks for itself.

The pick: UVA +1.5
