Last nights game in Houston was an absolute dogfight from start to finish. Lead changes, questionable calls, impossible shots, and a buzzer beater for the ages. Start to finish, the 2016 National Championship game encompassed everything you want to see as a college basketball fan.
This one could have truly gone either way and both teams were undoubtedly matched evenly. I think if UNC can D up in those final seconds then they get the job done in overtime. But that's wasn't how it was meant to be. Instead, the senior four-year captain Ryan Arcidiacono made the selfless move to dish the ball to the open man Kris Jenkins who buried the 25-footer.
The swing of the pure emotion of last night's game was simply incredible, and its what makes sports amazing. One second Marcus Paige drops a double clutch three with defense in his face to tie it at 74 with 4.7 to go. The next Arcidiacono steams up the floor, drop passes to Jenkins and it's all over in a matter of seconds.
Villanova took down Iowa, who was in the top 10 for most of the season. Miami, who is always an ACC mainstay. Kansas, who 25% of people thought were going to win it and had more than enough talent to do so. Oklahoma, who had the best player in college basketball in Buddy Hield. Then it was finally finished against an unbelievable team in North Carolina.
